Subaru of America Donates New Outback to Aid Ronald McDonald House Families

Subaru of America, Inc. has donated a new 2009 Subaru Outback Special Edition to the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) of Southern New Jersey, located in Camden. The All-Wheel Drive Outback, valued at approximately $26,000, will be used to transport RMH families of children being treated for critical illnesses or traumatic injuries. The vehicle will also be used by RMH staff to support day-to-day operations of Ronald McDonald House.

"We understand the challenges that charities are facing in this economy, and we are very happy to be able to support the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey with this donation," notes Tom Doll, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Subaru of America, Inc., which is headquartered in Cherry Hill. "The 2009 Subaru Outback, with its All-Wheel Drive and spacious interior, will provide years of reliable service to the Ronald McDonald House and the families that stay there."

"We're so grateful that in such difficult times Subaru is able to support the House and its mission to provide a home-away-from home for seriously ill children and their families," said Ann "Teddy" Thomas, executive director of Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey. "This new vehicle is a blessing and we can't thank Subaru of America enough for its incredible generosity."

This donation continues a long relationship between Subaru of America and Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey. In 1998, Subaru of America donated a vehicle to RMH as part of Subaru's 30th Anniversary initiative, "30 Cars for 30 Causes." RMH also received a grant from Subaru of America Foundation to enhance the computer equipment and capabilities available to the families that stay there -- primarily so that siblings can keep up with school work. In addition, for the past two years, a group of Subaru employees have volunteered at RMH as part of Subaru's annual Martin Luther King Day of Service activities.
