SUBARU MOTORSPORTS USA FINISH 1ST, 2ND AT SOUTHERN OHIO FOREST RALLY

An exciting weekend of rallying saw Subaru Motorsports USA taking first and second place at this year’s Southern Ohio Forest Rally (SOFR). The American Rally Association (ARA) defending double champion duo of driver Brandon Semenuk and co-driver Keaton Williams withstood a final day push from teammates Travis Pastrana and co-driver Rhianon Gelsomino to claim the win.

“Travis was showing some really good pace today,” said Semenuk of Pastrana following Saturday’s final stages, “so it was fun to get into a little battle with him.”

“Southern Ohio Forest Rally was awesome,” said Pastrana. “Felt really good on the final day. Had some really technical, downhill, high-speed stages that were absolutely fantastic.” Pastrana’s confidence led to he and Gelsomino winning three stages on the final day of the SOFR, but an incident with a tree caused some damage to the rear of their WRX ARA24, allowing Semenuk and Williams to pull away and log another victory on their quest for a third straight ARA championship.

Semenuk made a statement early on, taking the jump at the end of Thursday’s opening stage through downtown Chillicothe flat-out and putting on a show for the spectators. From there, both Subaru Motorsports USA teams navigated the quick, technical, and narrow forest roads of the SOFR on their way to the top of the podium.

Up next? “Ojibwe’s one of our best rallies,” says Pastrana of the upcoming Ojibwe Forest Rally in Minnesota. “Ojibwe’s our rally, so I think we can come out firing there,” said Gelsomino. That rally comes after a bit of a summer break in the ARA calendar, running from August 23-24, 2024.
