SUBARU HOLDS THE LINE ON 2014 LEGACY® AND OUTBACK® PRICING
• Most versions keep same MSRP as 2013 models.
• 2014 Legacy 2.5i starts at $20,295.
• 2014 Outback 2.5i starts at $23,495.
• EyeSight™ driver assistance feature now available on more models.
Subaru of America, Inc. today announced pricing for the 2014 Legacy and Outback model lines, with most versions having no increase over the 2013 models. Starting at $20,295, the 2014 Subaru Legacy remains the most affordable midsize all-wheel drive sedan in America. The 2014 Subaru Outback, the original Sport Utility Wagon®, starts at $23,495. All prices reflect MSRP before the $795 destination charge for Legacy models and $825 for Outback models.
Subaru continues to post record sales, including five consecutive years of increases and exceeding 300,000 annual sales in the U.S for the first time in 2012. With 125,470 new-vehicle sales through April, Subaru remains on track for another record year.
All 2014 Legacy and Outback models come standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive yet are priced similarly to competitors that either do not offer all-wheel drive or make it an extra-cost option. The Legacy 2.5i and Outback 2.5i models feature a 173-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder BOXER engine that was new for 2013 and helped increase fuel economy.
The Legacy 2.5i base model offers a choice between a 6-speed manual transmission and the Lineartronic® continuously variable transmission (CVT); Legacy 2.5i Premium and Limited models come standard with the CVT. In the Outback line, the choice between the 6-speed manual and CVT is offered on the 2.5i base and 2.5i Premium models, with the Outback 2.5i Limited coming standard with the CVT.
The Legacy and Outback 3.6R Limited models are powered by a 256-horsepower, 3.6-liter 6-cylinder BOXER engine teamed to a 5-speed automatic transmission.
In response to customer trends, Subaru has upgraded the popular 2014 Legacy 2.5i Premium and Outback 2.5i Premium models to include as standard the All-Weather Package (heated front seats, heated side mirrors and windshield wiper de-icer). The Premium models now also come standard with the display audio system featuring a 4.3-inch screen, 6 speakers and SiriusXM Satellite Radio with a 4-month free trial subscription. The display is compatible with the available rear camera system. The Premium models get a $300 price rise over comparably equipped 2013 versions.
The 2014 Legacy 2.5i Limited, with leather seating and additional amenities, has an MSRP of $25,895 and the Outback 2.5i Limited, with similar equipment upgrades over the Premium trim line, has an MSRP of $29,095; both MSRPs are the same as the 2013 versions. Likewise, the 2014 Legacy and Outback 3.6R Limited models keep the same MSRPs as the 2013 versions. The Legacy and Outback 3.6R Premium models are discontinued for 2014.
Subaru introduced the advanced EyeSight driver-assist system for the 2013 Legacy and Outback Limited models, and for 2014 makes it also available in the Premium trim line. EyeSight, which uses innovative Subaru-developed stereo camera technology, integrates Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Braking and Vehicle Lane Departure Warning.
The Subaru Legacy is a standout in the midsize field in terms of roominess, with 103 cu. ft., of total passenger room and a generous 37.8 inches of rear seat legroom. The versatile Outback offers 8.7 inches of ground clearance, which is higher than many crossovers and some SUVs.
